Hasn't the weather been gorgeous we've spent a lot of time in the garden, I LOVE September.
I've had two lovely parcels this week, the first one as mentioned previously from the very kind and lovely Andrea at Indigo Blue who sent me a cupcake parcel after hearing my Cupcake Swap partner didn't deliver the goods how kind is that?
Thank you lovely lady. Here are some pics, check out my Kate Moss figure. (I'm built for comfort not for speed ok:)
It smelt divine when I opened it due to the cute lavendar pillow in the box, I loved the bag, pretty corsage and the flowery baubles are so sweet. Twiglet was after my choccy but I saved it and snaffled it whilst watching Strictly Come Dancing this evening washed down with a few glasses of wine, so please excuse typos.
Now onto something completely different, isn't life interesting. As you know I'm an avid Freecycler and still haven't blogged my new (to me) vintage Singer Sewing Machine, Evadne, Myrtle is a little jealous. (notice the old lady name theme? we used to have a guinea pig called Queenie). Anyhoo, a very nice lady popped around this evening to collect a baby change bag I'd put on our local board and I always remember faces and felt I knew her. Turns out after she'd left I do and I emailed her and we've had a good old chinwag, I worked with her 11 years ago - how weird is that??? Love her, she said you're much slimmer than you were 11 years ago, her memory is obviously failing her - tee hee.
Right onto other business, I still owe 2 PIFs, so I'm going to do one of them now. Just for a bit of fun I'd like you to tell me a happy Christmas memory from your childhood - I'm just nosey really, so leave me a comment and I'll do a draw in a couple of weeks or so.
Here's mine, we were allowed to open one pressie on Christmas Eve and I always remember spending ages throwing building blocks into a cardboard box by the light of the Christmas tree fairy lights with my darling Dad, how come it's always the tiny mundane things that are so special? I also remember going Christmas shopping with my Dad to buy a surprise for my Mum and I bought her a shiny red satin scarf and some Wade Whimsies, remember those?
Have a great week

Hi You! I remember sat in the window one snowy christmas time, it was dark - it seemed really late, I was waiting for my Dad to come home from work - couldn't have been that late! But as I waited I made paper snowflakes (you know the kind - a circle of paper folded and folded and then bits cut out), Mum helped me stick them on the windows - to welcome him home! Sweet Dad, hes been gone a long time, yet I think of him daily! xx
ReplyDeletePlaygroup still going well??

Twiggy,
ReplyDeleteI remember going to my grammy's house and being fascinated by one of her ornaments. It clipped onto the branch of the tree and had a tube of red liquid that bubbled as it got warmer. The tube was attached to a green plastic ball at the bottom that lit up inside. Imagine my delight when these came back into fashion a few years ago. I loved her tree with these on it! Oh the things we remember!
A couple of weeks ago, I bumped into someone I used to go to school with. Hadn't seen her for 20 years! :-O Amazing seeing as we live only about 3 miles apart. Anyway, I bumped into her again yesterday - how weird is that? Nothing for 20 years, then twice in a fortnight!
ReplyDeleteYou cupcake parcel from IB is lovely, so is the PIF stuff. Lucky you!
Oh and SCD ... Rachel Stevens was a bit good for her first 'go' wasn't she? :-O

Hello pretty lady. Oh you do make me larf!! Love the apron, I'm sorry your swap partner didn't do the swap :(
ReplyDeleteI loved Christmas as a child. It was the best time. I know we always had one thing we really wanted and my parents would endeavor to get us it. That is one thing I do with my kids. Anyhoo I know I wanted a ballerina Sindy more than life itself, and I remember opening a present and getting her, and that feeling of happiness that I had got her was fabulous.
Also I did put a chair through a glass door one Christmas after dinner. My Dad stood and applauded me when really a good old shout would have done... but that's not such a fun memory ;)
We were always allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve too - and its a tradition I continue with Caitie.
ReplyDeleteHappiest Childhood Christmas memory would have to be the year I was 9 and despite extensive searching was unable to find a present under the tree for me from my mum and dad, my sister had a huge box and when she was given it to open, I said I hadn't had one from them yet and was sent to look on my bed for it - which I did and to my total amazement found a 3/4 size guitar sitting on my pillow waiting for me - I was stunned and proudly carried it downstairs and burst into tears - definitely the best present I ever got from my parents. The box for my sister contained a My Little Pony Dream Castle and the day after Boxing Day, gwen and I began the annual argument with Dad about being able to leave the presents downstairs a bit longer while Gwen was sitting on the (now empty) box and as she was in full flow about how unfair it was the presents had to go upstairs, the box lid collapsed and she fell in - we all laughed and dad said the presents could have one more day!!
April xx
I remember Christmas cakes and more Christmas cakes as my Mum was a wonderful cake decorator and used to get lots of requests at Christmas. One year there were 35 Christmas cakes taking up every bit of available space in our dining room!!
ReplyDeleteThose are some gorgeous goodies you've received this week - love that apron :)

Congrats on your goodies - I remember Whimsies. I used to buy them for 9p each. Its a strange memory but my nanna J had exactly the same tree every year and it smelled funny!!

Your blog is SUCH fun! And you ARE slim! (You have no idea HOW slim till you see THIS round Comanche!) Love the apron! I DO have a beautiful Christmas memory, but everytime I tell it people say it's too 'sad'. I disagree but I'll spare you just in case! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHello! Glad you finally got the PIF so sorry about the delay! What a lovely apron you got too. One remember I have of Christmas is standing next to my mum in our kitchen whilst she made the Christmas trifle, it was a work of art and seemed to involve so many layers! Lovely memories

Love reading your blog ... have missed visiting 'cos I always end up laughing.
ReplyDeleteOne Xmas, I think I was about 6, I remember receiving a beautifully painted wooden dragon puppet from my Aunt and Uncle. It was absolutely fabulous, the legs 'clunked' deliciously ... I named it 'PUFF' and lurrrrrrved it instantly.
However, when my elder brother opened his present from the same Aunt and Uncle it was immediately obvious that somehow or other the tags had got mixed up. His parcel revealed a long legged rag doll ... and to say he wasn't chuffed is an understatement LOL!
Needless to say, despite my tearful protests, I was forced to relinquish my iron grip of the puppet in exchange for the rag doll ... and sadly, I resented it so much I could never bring myself to touch her (far less play with her) and she ended up at a jumble sale many years later, unloved, un cared for and never played with. Sad but true.
Hello there. I remember me and my six sisters sitting on the stairs each Christmas morning waiting fro mum and dad to finish decorating the sitting room which they only ever did on Christmas Eve. We would be singing 'Why are we waiting?' and the magic of finally being let into that room and seeing the tree for the first time on Christmas Day was magical. x
ReplyDeleteA big congratulations on all your lovely goodies! One of my happy Christmas memories is on Christmas eve we would take small pieces of cotton wool,( I think my mother saved them from inside pill bottles) and we would place them on the Christmas tree just before going off to bed, we thought that if Santa saw the "snow" on our tree he would leave us more presents!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightfully gorgeous cupcake apron and I certainly love the flower corsage and baubles and the rest is all just gorgeous! Sounds like you enjoyed your chocolate and wine that evening!

ReplyDeleteLovely goodies, Twiggy!
ReplyDeleteChristmas was a simple affair in our home when I was young.I do remember those cardboard sweet shops with the little scoops, scales, paper bags..and of course, the sweets! And I loved the old fashioned paper decorations ;-)
One of mine was sneaking downstairs with my sister to see if Father Christmas had been and managed to make it back upstairs without being caught. Which, trust me, is not an easy thing to do in our house! it was the only time we did this.
ReplyDeleteLovely cupcake apron that's so sweet of Andrea and lots of great things in the pif.
ReplyDeleteWe used to get presents at the bottom of our beds, it was great to wake in the night, find them there and have a sneaky feel and shake. We wouldn't open them until at least 5 'o'clock though!
