Autumn Goodness

Hooray it's half term hols for us.  We went on a lovely Autumnal walk yesterday, I LOVE this time of year, the trees are so pretty and it was so crisp and bright outside.

Due to the pants weather this year we didn't have much joy on the allotment, but look at these goodies.

Twiglet's one and only fab pumpkin that he grew for Halloween.
One of our lovely fellow allotment holders has two old apple trees and these apples are SO tasty, so my job today was peeling this little lot, it took an hour and a half
we filled up my old jam pan and ended up with this lovely stuff - totally lush !!
I'll give some to my Mum and freeze the rest, saving a bit for Christmas Day - magic !!

Here's a little birdy purse I've bought for my pal for her birthday, she has a couple of hens, so hen pressies are called for, isn't it cute?
A bit of cosy evening stitching I've done for the for the young man.
We had a roast for tea today and finished off with big bowls of rhubarb crumble and custard, lovely.
I've got my old BERO book out and will be making the Christmas cake this week, the clocks go back and the nesting begins.

What little comforting Winter rituals do you have?

Happy Days.

Get your thinking caps on

Blimmin heck me And Twiglet walked down to school in torrential rain this morning - he was wrapped up like an explorer:)
Soon as I walked back in the house the flippin sun came out - grrr!!

Anyhoo, I've finally got a day off work and I've done lots of housework and now I'm skiving on here!!

We visited my lovely Mum at the weekend and went up to Whitley Locks, looked at the boats, examined the locks and collected half a carrier bag full of conkers!!! (Our house is full of Twiglet''s collections of conkers, sticks, pebbles, shells etc, etc)

Isn't this cute? I bought it for my Mum as a little Christmas pressie - £1.49 from Home Bargains, get them while they're hot folks.  I'm going to buy her another tonight, she likes these little pots as she's cooking for one and they are v.cute!!

Now here's the thinking caps bit - as you know we are having a crafting taster session on Monday 19th November to hopefully drum up some interest in our new WI.

I need to do a little demo type thing so people can do a make and take.

It has to be simple(it's me we're talking about here), cheap (we are currently self funding) and quick.

Any ideas?  would be great if they were Christmas themed.  I've thought of pincushions so far and that's about it.

I'll pop all ideas in a hat and send a little something to the one drawn out - no idea what though !!

Right better type up my minutes from the Scout Meeting last week now!!

Ta ta for now

PS I will attempt to add info about our craft taster evening on here - do come if you can - they will be cake !

Important issue

I know this doesn't effect you lovely lot but if you'd like to sign the petition, I'd be ever so grateful.

In a nutshell, as you know I live in a lovely little semi rural village and we are surrounded by many others.

There is not a lot of money around here, but a great sense of community and some lovely folk.

We have a very unusual 3 tier school system and the head of our local `academy' wants to change to a 2 tier system and take in Year 7 onwards.

Obviously this would mean a loss of our great middle schools (Ofsted rated as excellent) and little village schools like ours.

In other a words, a gentle village way of life would be scrapped to make way for profits for a 2000+ super school where 11 year olds would mix with 18 year olds.

I might be old fashioned but I don't want people to leave our villages, and a quiet, gentle way of life to be forgotten in the pursuit of money.

It's time to be militant.

If you'd like to support us, I would love it.

Thanks for reading.

Beautiful breasts

That got your attention didn't it ? (You'll need to read right to the end)

Well we had quite an active weekend - first time for ages - note to self get some weight off Twiggy !!

I've piled it on while recovering this Summer.

Anyhoo, went to the local pool for a swim on Saturday.

On Sunday Twiglet wanted to go over to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (which is 5 mins from us) to see the recycled sculpture he saw on Blue Peter, so off we went.

Hope you like the photos.

We have a lot of Highland cattle up here, isn't this little chap cute?

Popped up to the lottie which is a disgrace due to lack of  good health/bad weather etc, but Twiglet has a brill pumpkin growing for Halloween.

As you can see my lettuce is out of control - ooer missus.
Incidentally, while we were looking at the Miro sculptures in the very quiet indoor gallery, Twiglet was reading the information for each sculpture out loud.

We have been reminding him to enunciate recently as he can be a bit of a mumbler.

He took our advice and said loud and clearly as he read a description, BEAUTIFUL BREASTS !!

Oh how we laughed.

Thank you Mary and the big reveal

Thank you for the supportive comments re: glass of wine, I'd got in from work, it was there and Mr Twigs said what would you like to drink, it was rude not to :)

I've just walked Twiglet down to school it's a glorious sunny morning, but crikey it's cold!

Anyhoo, we had an old fashioned Sunday at the weekend, Mr Twigs has been moving furniture round to redesign Twiglet's bedroom - it looks great, it was tipping down outside.  Meanwhile the boy and I played on the Wii and made a Mary Berry Victoria sponge.

Now I've always been a chuck it all in the bowl at once, type baker and my cakes are always a bit flat.

The boys bought me one of the Great British Bake Off books while I was ill - bless 'em.

Twiglet and I had a go at the Victoria Sponge and followed the step by step instructions.

Blardy hell it was gorgeous, so much so we ahem, scoffed it very quickly !!
My lovely Mum has been rummaging in the attic and found this 20 year old Kenwood Chefette and asked me to take it to the charity shop, but I stole it, it's ace and v,compact.

Retro baking !!
Here's a cute photo of Twiglet at Centre Parcs, his Dad took him out on his bike,a lot I love this photo.

Twiglet is going up to Stage 4 at swimming soon, v.proud Mum and Dad.

The big reveal - apologies for pants photo, I did finally finish this, but missed the Emley Show - just need to get it framed.

I think it's very jolly.

Finally, lovely Josie over at Sykessillysite entered a givea way  the Little Floating Craft Company were having - it was a pay it forward.

Josie nominated me and I was lucky enough to win this gorgeous bag, isn't it pretty?

Thank you so much , it was a kind thought and did cheer me up, when I was poorly.

Take a look at their website there is lots of lovely stuff.

Have you got your sequins ready for Strictly?  I can't wait, I love Autumn and the TV always improves.

We'll miss Dr Who though and I'll miss Rory and Amy (non Dr Who fans have no idea what I'm on about - I'm sure)

Righto, things to do, we're both back at work and it's my first day alone for over a year now- what am I doing to celebrate? cleaning the bathroom and mopping the floor - ooo the glamour!!

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
