So what's new and a bit of news..........

Hello. Glad you enjoyed our little stroll last weekend. How's your week been? We've been very busy again at Twiggy Towers. We took Twiglet to the swimming baths again, but to a big pool this time, it was really busy but didn't bother him at all, so that's good.

Had another baking sesh at school on Thursday, I spent more time cleaning up after making Easter biscuits than actually making them!It also seems to have been a week of various appointments and errands. Here's some new stuff.

My glasses, my Mum is partially sighted due to Glaucoma so now I'm 40 I have to have a yearly eye test and my lovely Mum insisted on buying me some new specs. What do you think ? (excuse wire wool hair, hairdryers are not good for my curly hair, can't wait until it's warm enough to just wash and go). Although they look similar these are actually 2 different pairs, one of them have very thick side arms so wouldn't be suitable for driving, so I have two different styles.
I have also spent some of my birthday money this week, I LOVE this top, Cammy says it looks like me, bless that boy, she hasn't got wire hair!

I also had a fancy for pink pumps so bought these, aren't they gorgeous? It looks as though Spring has finally arrived, so here are a few snaps of the garden, this flowering currant bush is getting huge, it used to be in a tiny pot in our tiny back yard and we brought it with us when we moved 4 years ago. It smells lovely and looks so pretty. This is an old tree trunk at the bottom of the garden. These little cuties are peeping out from under the flowering currant bush.

I've not had a lot of time for crafting this week but here's a little work in progress for me ! I did this little cross stitch Singer a while ago and I'm in the process of making it into a mixed media picture.
On the lead up to Easter, Twiglets school is keeping us on our toes. Here we have his Easter bonnet, made by Daddy and decorated by Twiglet :)
We are also on Easter cupcake making duty next week for the coffee morning after the Easter service at our village church, starting with the Easter bonnet parade - fabtastic.
Righto, I'm off to make some Easter cards out of this little lot, I might have a little helper if I can tear him away from Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Wee Twiglet is going to a birthday party tomorrow and I'm hoping to do a spot of gardening.

By the way, the bit of news is, Twiggy is going back to work, yes I know about time. I phoned my old employer for a reference and they offered me a job and I said, yes!! So it'll be back to selling new homes for me, two weekends on, two off, so the boys can do a little bonding and hopefully not trash the house while I'm out !!
Have a great week.

Fancy a walk down the lane?

After the foul wet day we had yesterday, today is much brighter so we thought we'd go for a stroll. We often pop out in the car somewhere for a walk at the weekend so today we thought we'd have a walk down some of our village lanes and most lovely it was too. Fancy coming with us???? Wish we had to cross a little bridge to our house, the garden to this little cottage is divine. We have lots and lots of highland cattle round these parts and they are gorgeous. Look at this fella having a Sunday afternoon nap, the geese were dozing too. How adorable is this little one? Sooooooooooooo cute. This holly hedge is so pretty.

Look who Twiglet spotted having a snooze next to the path. It must be a Sunday afternoon thing.

I wonder how old this gatepost is?

Another little bridge.

Oooooo another bridge.

Making our way home now.
Over the stile and nearly home.

Hope you enjoyed our Sunday afternoon stroll. It's surprising what's on your doorstep when you look.
Righto, Twiglet and I are going to make some biscuits now.

Zoom, there goes another week.

Is it a sign of old age or does time seem to be whizzing by? We've been very busy this week.

So busy I haven't done any crafting - shock horror!! Well apart from the wedding sampler I'm doing for my niece, I'll reveal it when I've finished.

So did you have a lovely Mothers Day? I got my wish, very nicely written cards from Twiglet and some scrummy chocs, they are next to my bed and I scoff one every night before bed - I'm so restrained!! I got to choose how we spent the day so I wanted to go to my old stamping ground, Nostell Priory (I used to work there, pre Twiglet) so we did. The National Trust have spent a lot of money creating new walks and working on the obelisk, we had a wonderful afternoon walking in the sunshine. There's always time for climbing treesBlimey what a handsome chap (yes, I know I'm biased, but it's true !) We then came home and Mr Twigs made a lovely roast chicken dinner, top hubby!!!
My lovely Mum has been over for a couple of days this week, housework, chitter chatter, shopping, laughing. We do have fun.

I had my eyes tested yesterday and I've been treated by my Mum to some new glasses, they are very nice. I MIGHT show you some pics next week, when I collect them.

As I mentioned previously we took Twiglet swimming yesterday and it was good fun. We thought this will tire him out, not a bit of it. He finally went to sleep at 8.50pm and was up at 6.45am, we are wiped out, what's that all about ????

I now have a baking residency at Twiglets school, so this morning we made currant buns. Keeping a group of 4 - 6 year olds interested proved quite a challenge but we managed. I think they were wearing more flour than we actually used for the baking.

I do have some crafting in the pipline and treated myself to this loveliness this week, so watch this space.Thank you so much for your lovely supportive comments about having my hearts published, I've never had anything in a magazine before so it was a thrill.

Now I have a question for all you baking ladies out there. Could you please direct me to some VERY simple recipes to do with my 4 - 6 year olds. This is what we've made so far, choccy rice crispy nests, fruit kebabs, currant buns today. I've suggested biscuits next week as I have some Easter cookie cutters. If you could direct me to any websites or recipes you've tried successfully that would be great. I use trusty old BERO recipes a lot, the Flora challenge and BBC Good Food websites are good too. To say the school is under equipped would be an understatement, so it'll have to be simple stuff. Your help would be much appreciated.

Righto off to do a spot of ironing now and then walk down to school to collect the little fella.

Have a great weekend.

Happy St Patricks Day

HappySt Patricks day to everyone, especially all you Irish lovelies. Apologies for being so late, have been busy, busy today. Ended the day by taking Twiglet to the swimming baths the first time for
ages - took him when he was a baby but he totally freaked!!
Anyhoo lots of fun had by all but I'm totally knackered now!!!
If my Dad were still around it would have been my Mum and Dads 55th wedding anniversary today !!!!!

Blimey, I've been published !!!!

Now please indulge my excitement as I've never had any of my stuff published before. What a lovely surprise, I had completely forgotten that I’d emailed a photo of some hearts I made using the pattern in Februarys issue of Crafts Beautiful.
I was flicking through the magazine today and thought, ooo I made some of those hearts, that looks like my sofa, blimey it’s me !!!!!! I'm very excited :) Lissy Lou gets a mention too (lovely blogland lady).I've been making and doing again this week, crafting dynamo or what. Do you like the Elmo ring (see above). I LOVE Elmo I think it's because he reminds me of Mr Twigs!!!

I popped over to my mates yesterday for coffee and cake but the highlight of my week has to be the cooking session I did at Twiglets school. Me and a group of 4 and 5 year olds in the staff room making chocolate crispy cakes - what fun. It's amazing the stuff they told me about them, their parents, the world in general. Highly amusing. One of them ran on up ahead of me in the corridor and burst through the door to the wrong room, disturbing the governors meeting by shouting, where are the chocolate crispies??? Oh how we laughed :)

Well a Happy Mothers Day to you all, whether your babies have fur, scales or mucky hands - is that just my house?!! and big hugs to all of you who will be missing your Mums tomorrow. I have mentioned chocolate a lot this week so hopefully will receive some lovely handwritten stuff from Twiglet and some CHOCOLATE !!!
love

Is it the sunshine??

But I seem to be on a bit of a roll at the momemt. Cleaning, planting, tidying, making.
We took Twiglet up to Holme Moss on Sunday to see the last of the snow (or is it??) blimey twas VERY chilly up there but also very beautiful. I've been making again for my MISI shop - see side bar. What do you reckon???Now would you all do me a favour please, pop over to Craft Juice and vote for my earrings. I don't normally ask but for the love of God (to quote lovely Pam over at White O Morn) do I have to staple a fiver to my earrings to get on that elusive front page. Go on make me an even happier Twiggy.Well Mr Twigs has been busy in the garden, we took loads of rubble and garden waste to the tip this weekend and have planted, carrots, spring onion, onions (Twiglet calls them his prize winning onions:) carrots, radishes and beans!!
I'm going to do a bit more planting soon after cleaning the bathroom and doing some ironing. My life is too glamourous darlings.
Right better go and do some housewifely duties.
Enjoy the sunshine.

A Spring in my step..........

Finally, we have had some lovely weather, so last weekend we had some fresh air and culture at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Twiglet likes to go and look at the scooptures as he calls them. Good, muddy fun.
Do you think Spring has arrived? it has been glorious up here all week - apart from today urgh !!
I have spent a lot of time busying about in the garden this week, planting, clipping shrubs, clearing rubbish and I've really enjoyed being out in the chilly sunshine. I've planted lots of pretty primulas in my pots and above are a few pretties on my kitchen windowsill.

My lovely Mum has stayed over for a couple of days this week which is always nice. She said you play in the garden, I'll play in the kitchen and then made us puddings, scones and buns, aren't Mums brilliant ???Louise commented on my last post that my grotty bug has been replaced by a cleaning bug and I think she is right. I've been decluttering, sending stuff to charity shops, popping it on Freecycle and Ebay - phew no wonder I'm so tired today.I'm not the only busy bee at Twiggy Towers, we had Twiglets parents evening on Tuesday and I'm very pleased to say after a shaky start due to a 3 month long on/off virus he got rave reviews from his teacher. We are so proud of him as he has tried so hard and to hear him reading his phonics books makes me want to burst :) His school celebrated World Book Day on Thursday and he went as Thomas the Tank Engine - surprise !!!

Thanks to the 20 minute challenge over at Marmaladerose I've managed to be quite crafty this week considering. I'm really cracking on with my nieces wedding sampler but also made a few other bits. Now these are for my friend Helens new grandaughter. I'm going to make the cross stitch picture into a card. Here's a little baby taggie blanket I made.
I also made myself a HUGE pincushion in pretty Spring style fabric, I like something large to stick my pins in - oy cheeky!! (see above).
How about this hilarious little Spring chick, it gave me a chance to play with my glue gun that was a gift two years ago from Twiglet and I've never used it, what fun!!!Here are a couple of my ATCs made for March swaps for ATCs4all.
Oooo did you see 5 Days this week, David Morrissey in his swimming trunks made me feel quite beside myself. what is it about Davids? Anyhoo talking of hunks of manhood, I'll leave you with a photo of my two hunky firefighters, one of them appears to have his helmet on back to front.Twiggy xxx

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
