I thought I better blog this evening. Now I usually avoid moaning on my blog (yeah, yeah, since when, I hear you say :) but today I'm going to, so bear with me.On Friday I was driving to the train station as Twiglet and I were going to catch a train for a treat - you know he's train obsessed). Anyhoo, some dingbat woman drove into the side of my car, thankfully no one was hurt, the car paintwork has been damaged but that's it really. We exchanged details (she admitted it was her fault, I agreed) and I reckoned we still had time to catch the train.
Got to the station, ran to the platform, down the subway, etc etc. Hooray, train was there, guard saw us coming, closed the doors and mouthed sorry!!!!!!!! Twiglet was absolutely devastated and crying his eyes out. I was not impressed, lodged a complaint, upshot is, apology from Northern Rail, dressing down for guard, complimentary train tickets for Twiggy - hurrah!!! justice for Twiglet.
As you know (have I mentioned it before- lol) I was working all weekend and now we all have a stomach bug and spent most of today playing with Twiglet (we now have moon sand and glitter all over the carpet :)- yay or speaking to the insurance company - boo or the tax office - double boo!!!! So that's me, grumpy. Thanks for reading, I will now shift up a gear into entertaining mode - hopefully :)

The poppy at the top of the page, is my first one of the year, isn't it gorgeous and above is a photo of my Clematis, which is sooo pretty.
Look who I found in one of our local charity shops a very French looking Miss Miffy, I am a big Miffy fan and was very excited, she only cost me 40p!!! Twiglet wanted her, but my need was greater, so I bribed him with a Union Jack mini-which is pretty cool.
Isn't this beautiful ? It's actually a pillow case, but I think I'm going to make it into a bag, it cost me 50p!!! The work that has gone into it is tremendous, and it's going to be another treasured item.
Although I am v.busy with work at the moment. I've managed to do a bit of crafting, here are my ATC swaps for the Papercraftersunited vintage swap. As I'm always mentioning :) I LOVE vintage, so really enjoyed making these.
Finally, it was pretty quiet at work over the weekend, so I got some cross stitch done, this is just one of them, I'm pleased with the result and it will be winging it's way to a certain someone in the next few weeks............................
Righto, off to watch The Apprentice now - ohhh it does make me giggle. I used to work in sales (still do, I suppose) but all the slimey Erics that I've met in the past seem to resurface on this programme it's priceless. Have a terrific week......................... PS Have just discovered Twiglet has chicken pox, oh my better buy some calamine lotion !!!
Oh I am so glad to hear the guard got a ticking off - he really deserved it the dreadful meanie. Your poor little man, I can just imagine the tears of my two little chaps, it makes my heart turn over.
ReplyDeleteFabulous finds, epsecially Miffy!
Hope your week improves and the insurance don't mess you about. Glad it wasn't too nasty a bump and you're all ok.

*scream* at the train guard *stamps feet in protest* Glad all was well in the end with the tickets, but that doesn't help the tears already shed does it.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, and nice work :o)
So sorry to hear of the car accident! Glad you and Twiglet are OK! The train incident was quite a surprise and I'm glad to see a good outcome came from it. I think your teapot stitchery is really lovely and the poppy is a perfect shade of red. Wishing that you have a better week. Sending hugs your way. Jan@daylilylane I
ReplyDeleteThank goodness that you were all ok.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for taking that mean train guard to task.
Love your new finds, they are great.
What a beautiful poppy, I just love it when all the flowers start to bloom.
What a horrible guard! Please have a look at the Best Bargain Buys group I've started on flickr and think about posting your charity-shop finds ... we'd love to have you! http://www.flickr.com/groups/bargainbuys/
ReplyDeleteyou poor thing, sounds very stressfull, I hope that lovely miffy is cheering you up and making you feel better too.
ReplyDeleteOh dear ... so sorry to hear about your prang. It's both shocking and upsetting when it happens, isn't it? At least she admitted it was her fault. As for the guard ... grrrrrr ... power-hungry eejit. Honestly ... some people!!!
ReplyDeleteYou got some lovely thrifty bits there - can't wait to see the bag you make with the pillow case.
Hope you all feel better soon.

I have spent a little time getting caught up on your blog, you have made and received some totally lovely things!
ReplyDeleteWhat a day you had, I hope the guard feels bad for making Twiglet cry, oh what a meanie! But, I am glad you came out on top!
I love your Miffy, totally worth the bribe!!!
I have serious Miffy envy. I wouldn't have been bribed so easily I can tell you. Poor twiglet. Hope the spots aren't too itchy.
ReplyDeleteOh no poor you!!! Just as things started to improve Twiglet gets chicken pox. You poor things. Lots of boos and hisses for train guard and lots of get well soons from me. Take care, love the pillowcase
ReplyDeleteKimxxx
A spoonful of bicarbonate of soda in a lukewarm bath really helped my daughters when the itchy chicken pox got too much
Poor Twiglet, some people are just too ' jobsworth '. At least you got something to look forward too out of your complaint. Miffy is just so cute and such a bargain
ReplyDeleteGlad no one was hurt when that silly woman drove into the side of you and that you got your train tickets sorted out. Love the photos of your poppy and clematis. I love this time of the year when everthing starts to come to life again.
ReplyDeleteI hope it doesn't take too long for poor Twiglet to get over his case of the Chicken Pox, he must be feeling lousy. You have had a run of back luck, especially with the car saga (hope it gets sorted), but some good luck has come out of it, free ticket for Twiglet (when he gets better) and great buys from the charity shop. I love Miffy too, I used to use the excuse of buying her for my niece! I was very pleased Michael was at last booted off of The Apprentice, I can't believe the little sneak lasted as long as he did! x
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of the car new news hun, hope everything is ok now.
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to say i love your makes in the blog, they are all fab.
