Food glorious food and medical mishaps

Well I was going to take some photos of our allotment this evening to show you but due to heavy rain I'm staying put!! I have finished work for a bit and have next weekend off - yay !! (I took the above photo of this glorious pink poppy in our garden the other night, can you see the buzzy bee?)

I've finally caught up with the holiday ironing mountain and my thoughts this week seem to have been mainly about food..........
It started with cherry buns, made by Master Twiglet under my supervision (I did crack the eggs as he doesn't like the fact, that they bite him :)We then made a lovely rice pud, look at that skin - yum!! Twiglet tells me that rice pud, strawberry jam and chocolate buttons is a taste sensation !!!The next day my boy was back at school, so comfort food for dinner. Ratty tatty pasta (that would be ratatouille style pasta to everyone else) and parmesan and sun dried tomato bread. Here's a bit of home grown, our first mini crop of the year. Radishes!!!Allotment news: We were speaking to our lovely lottie neighbours yesterday evening, apparently there is a very naughty baby bunny on the rampage scoffing all the crops - so Mr Twigs has bought lots of netting to try to discourage him. We have some leeks, brussel sprouts (from lovely lottie neighbours) and sweetcorn plants to put in - the sweetcorn is Twiglets!!

Twiglet asked me to include a photo of his great pineapple experiment, we are attempting to grow a pineapple plant and this has little roots growing on it already!
Now here is the medical mishaps bit, which for once don't include me - I know, shocking!!
My poor Mum phoned me on Monday, she has stepped off her small ladder, missed a step and really jolted her ankle, knee and hip. This in turn has made her arthritis unbearable, so the doctor has told her to rest for 2 weeks. She lives a fair distance from us and as I've been working we haven't been able to go and see her. We've spoken lots on the phone and she is ok and quite upbeat, so please send healing vibes.

Tuesday, I got Twiglet off to school and the phone rang, this time it ws Mr Twigs calling from
A & E. He had slipped at work, banged his head and got concussion. I rang my MIL who had to come and pick me up, drive me over to Pontefract, then I collected Mr Twigs and the car and drove him home. He stayed off work for 2 days as advised but was itching to get back to work - mad man !!

Anyhoo he's fine now. But what a week we've had !!!

That's all for now.

Take care

Twiggy x

PS Do you like my new bloggy layout?

  12. The rice pudding looks heaven. I have always been tempted to make my own but somehow have never gotten round to it. I think this is probably because the tins of it are so cheap....but I guess it is something that I really should do, yes?

Sorry to hear about the mishaps. I hope everyone is recovered.

Please tell Twiglet I love his pineapple plant. I am not sure how it works, but it sounds pretty good. I love pineapple. I am guessing that he does too? x

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
