We joined the throngs yesterday up near lovely Greenhead Park in Huddersfield to see the Olympic torch - Twiglet was v.excited - hence non sports fan Twiggy getting out of bed on a Sunday morning :)
We went to the park afterwards to do a few activities but after half an hour the heavens opened so we hopped it.
I had to pop into Sainsbury's on the way home for a few bits and Twiglet got a Moshi Monsters comic as a treat as the rain stopped him going on any rides in the park.
On the way home I said, will you remember today for the rest of your life Twiglet?
He replied yes Mummy, the very, very first time I've bought a Moshi
Monsters comic.
Monsters comic.
You've got to laugh.

Haha, I have to agree with him really, I dragged all the children out on saturday morning to see the torch, let's just say it was the biggest disappointment of my life!! But we saw it and are now a part of history. Nathaniel was heard to say in a very loud voice; "Is that it??!!!" x
ReplyDeleteBlogland is full of torch postings at the moment - it reaches us next week and I'll be there!
ReplyDeleteAww you have to laugh don't you? I'm not sure that the torch comes near us but we will be able to go see the flame at the Olympic park as its not that far from us. Unfortunately we weren't lucky enough to get tickets to any of the events though

we get to see the flame at some ungodly hour in the morning next week. Hubby overseas so it will be dragging the children out of bed at a ridiculous hour (i.e. before 7). Can you sense my excitement?
ReplyDeleteHahahaha - bless him. I remember the Queen's Silver Jubilee so very well, but wonder whether my kids will remember the Diamond Jubilee so well? x
ReplyDeleteWe loved the Olympic torch - so much so that we follwed it into Sheffield for the evening. The weather was so great that families just syated put and the atmosphere - even after the event with nothing else happening, was totally wonderful. xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, too funny. we're off to see the torch this weekend - there will be a big do in Cambridge and I doubt we'll get near enough to see anything but it should be a laugh!
