Hooray it's the weekend and we're hibernating.

It was quite funny when we got to school this morning the headteacher told us Class 1 (reception and Year 1) would be in classroom 3 as it was the only one with heating. While the bigger children were going over to the church until the engineers had sorted everything out. The children thought this was VERY exciting indeed :)
(Above some fab handiwork by the little fella).

So for a change from the usual snow pics, here are some jolly jars Twiglet and I made during one of his snow days off school. A couple of old jam jars, some stained glass paints that have been in the back of my drawer for a year and hey presto!!!

How about this sparkly box, Twiglet made with the contents of his new craft trunk !!!

Mr Twigs bought me this fabby craft punch for Christmas
so, I grabbed a pile of old Christmas cards and I had a little play with it today. Recycled gift tags - woohoo (Mrs Swirly, I am learning from you :)
He knows how to keep
me out of mischief - that'll be the day.

(He also bought me CD of War of the Worlds - I LOVE this but only have it on vinyl, not much good as we haven't had a turntable for about 5 years), latest books by Ian Rankin and Stephen Booth, Neverwhere and Muse DVDs and a bottle of vodka, that's me sorted for weekend entertainment then!!!

We intend to have a cosy, toesy weekend and Mr Twigs has just made a huge pan of leek and potato soup for lunch tomorrow, start as you mean to go on.

Have a great weekend and take care.

Normal service has resumed - kind of ..............

Well Twiglet went back to school this morning, phew we had a long Christmas break, he wanted to stay at home but when he realised he'd missed Wednesday afternoons French and PE lessons brightened up :) It sure is quiet without my boys around.
I am now catching up on 3 weeks worth of clean, ironing, domestic boredom (that's why I'm having a little skive on here).
I'll be donning my Siberian snow gear to pick him up this afternoon, gawd it's so snowy and freezing out there - brrrr!!!
Mr Twigs reported that the traffic was so bad on the M62 this morning, that he was able to get out of his car in the fast lane to clear off the ice from the windscreen (it was icing up as he drove )
Roll on the weekend.

Snowy Day Fun

Well when you get an extra day off school you have to make the most of it, don't you? Watch out
Daddy !!!
Here is our little Christmas tree, looking just as festive outside as it did inside. Hope it survives for next year.
And what to do now wee Twiglet is in bed....................
Play with some of my Christmas pressies of course.
Keep safe and warm

Cosy toesy day !!!!

Cosy toesy, that's what Twiglet calls it when we're snuggled up under a blanket on a chilly day and it's certainly one of those here today. It's absolutely tipping down with snow up here and Twiglets school is closed (he was due back today), so he is having an extended Christmas break !! We have just taken all the Christmas decorations down and are currently watching Roary and scoffing the Christmas tree choccies :)
Will probably go out and play a bit later.
Keep warm and safe.

PS We went up to Royd Moor sledging on Sunday what a buzz, I'm getting quite addicted, will post some photos later...............
PPS Hooray Mr Twigs was home early today, he NEVER has time off work(amazing, the roads must be bad!!) so is working from home now, glad we're all safely in, hope you and yours are ok.

Ahh farewell my lovely.............

Did you cry??? I did. We also shouted rude things at the telly after the regeneration but we won't talk about that.

Now apart from the fact I fancy DT he was my special Doctor for the following reason. Way back on Christmas Day 2005, we had moved to our current house a month previous with a baby Twiglet. He had rotten colic from about 4pm onwards, he cried, I cried, Mr Twigs despaired and like idiots we'd decided we should have just the morning with family. So we drove around in the car trying to get him off to sleep the first thing I'll always remember is seeing a beautiful outline of Jesus and Mary projected on the side of our village church. The second memorable thing was after FINALLY getting young Master Twiglet off to sleep we had our Christmas dinner at 10pm and watched the episode of Dr Who that we had recorded earlier. It was the only telly we watched, the first with DT and that is why he's my favourite :)

sigh.............

Seasons Greetings

Hooray we had a white Christmas, did you? Hope you are having lovely Christmas. We're having a terrific, restful, lovely, family time. Christms Day was so nice. We entertained the oldies yesterday and thanks to me listening to David Tennant on the radio and having 2 glasses of sherry and a satsuma for breakfast I burnt my roast veggies - oops!!! so had to hurriedly do some more, Twiglet piped up these are burnt, my lovely MIL said, it's called caramelised darling - bless. See you can fool some of the people some of the time :) I even made a ginger and lemon cheesecake which was scrummy.
Feeling a bit grotty today as have a yuck cold and I must admit a BIT of a hangover, so off to watch Cranford now and save my energy for the panto tomorrow. Will post some Christmassy photos later.
Take care

PS Look at poor little ted buried up to the neck in snow !!!!

Santa Express and a few thank yous...........

Well, I have a few thank yous to mention. Firstly to Lissylou for my lovely Handmade Decoration
Swap, my decoration is so cute and has been stolen by Master Twiglet for his tree!! We scoffed the choccy in record time, I'm using my lovely bookmark in my ancient copy of A Christmas Carol I'm currently reading and my needlebook is in my sewing box !! I'm saving the socks for Christmas :) hope you don't mind that I erm........ borrowed your photo !!

I was also lucky enough to win this fabulous MIFFY!!!!! in a giveaway by super Greenpixey, Ms
Miffy is now in pride of place near the top of our Christmas tree.

Well we are Christmas agogo with Mr Twigs having a week off work and visited Santa on the twilight Santa Express this evening, how on earth we kept this a secret from Twiglet for 2
months, I'll never know!!! was fabbo fun.

When the big man asked Twiglet if he'd been good, he told him he had been a bit good, last week. At least he's honest :)
It has been bucketing down with snow since we came home and is VERY deep outside. looks like a white Christmas for us !!!

Here are some Christmas makes, the t.shirts I made for Twiglet, his two pals and my mate. I'm quite proud of the reindeer one as I did a freehand reindeer design and made this one for the little chap for Christmas day.

Made some delish mincemeat muffins - sorry no photos, we've scoffed them.

Thanks to Daisy at Daisie Days for the top tip of where to get a small white Christmas tree for Twiglets bedroom - he loves it!!! yay for Poundland!!!

So that's me for now, we are having our very first Christmas just the three of us this year, looks like it's just as well as it's pretty hard to get up here due to the snow!! We might go to the Christingle tomorrow at our village church if we can get there. We have the oldies (as Mr Twigs calls them - cheeky) coming round for Boxing Day - weather permitting. We're also taking Twiglet to his first panto next week - wahey!!!

Thank you for reading my blog this year my friends, I will be back soon but meanwhile have a fantastic Christmas however you chose to spend it. Big hugs to everyone who will be missing someone at this time of year. I'll be lighting a candle for my dear Dad. Promise me everyone that you will chill out, be kind to yourselves and not get too upset when the lovely Doctor regenerates. Blimey what a blow that will be, thank goodness for Hamlet on Boxing Day, now where's my Casanova DVD.....................
Happy Christmas

In the bleak midwinter........

Get yer sledge out, which is exactly what we did yesterday. Don't know who that crazy woman on the sledge is, honestly, some folk have no sense of decorum :)

Finally.........

The snow has properly arrived, yay!!! Here at Twiggy Towers we all have grotty colds so what did we do while the snow fell this afternoon? Built this (thanks for the kit Nana Twigs)
and took these photos.

Ooo we also made these.

Check out the lovely little Christmas pudding at the top of the page that Twiglet made at school for me and his Daddy, it was scrummy.
I will leave you with cowboy Daddy, doesn't he look cute? he'll kill me - haha!!!

I LOVE cosy, wintery afternoons and I REALLY love snow.

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
