I have, here I am do a bit of promotion :) Regardless of how you vote I hope you find time to do it. I don't really like soapboxing on my blog but I think if you have a vote you MUST use it. I always think about the countries where folks don't get the opportunity and I'm thankful we live in a democracy.I don't know if this would surprise you but I am quite interested in politics and I did intend to do a politics degree when I was a young un but didn't get the grades I required to get into the excellent politics department at Leeds Uni. Ho hum, perhaps I'll have to get in a grass roots level, now that would be interesting ;) The only problem is I'm not certain I could attach myself to one specific party, perhaps it's time to start the Independant Twiggy Party !!! come join me and let's eat cake !!!
Twiggy x
I like the sound of a Twiggy party :-)

I can not vote in England, but I do agree that those who can should. The Victorian ladies fought so hard to get women the vote,it is a shame if that right is not used.I do vote in our Irish elections,I feel every vote counts, even if the party I vote for does not get in.I will still have a local representative to go to,if I have the need.
ReplyDeleteAs you are so interested in politics, you should go for it,we need more women in government, here and in
England.
Am just gearing myself to go now Twiggy. I agree that everyone MUST use their vote but sadly there will always be those who can't be bothered or think their little vote won't make any difference. As far as I'm concerned, those who choose not to vote, (or waste their vote by voiding the ballot paper), completely give up any right to complain or bump their gums about politicians, their policies, or any decisions that are made in government or even within local councils, regardless of how it affects them personally. Harsh maybe but our vote is our voice and it needs to be heard.
ReplyDeleteNOW ... have you got any chocolate cake?? LOL!

I'm going later. I agree that we should all use our vote, but I dont find politics remotely interesting. I hate the way politicians squabble like toddlers, and not one of them has said anything "concrete" that sounds like a sensible solution to the mess that we re in. They all waffle. ANd if Tony Blair had still been Labur leader, I doubt many people would have been able to tell the leaders apart!! I liked my politicians without the "spin". If you have no "Spin" twiggy, then I'll vote for you. PS get yourselves over to Stainborough - the kids will love the play area! xxx
ReplyDeleteYes, I've done it. I could never not vote - those suffragettes really suffra'd for us to be able to vote!
