I have received a lovely award from the very smashing Diane over at Tales From Baggins Bottom - see sidebar. (I seem to have managed to keep previous award pictures but managed to delete who passed them on to me, so sorry folks) - doh !!
Anyhoo, I've had my blog for a while and told you lots of facts about me, yes, yes, stop yawning. Here are some that I have really had to dig for.
1. When I was at high school I wanted to be a journalist. We had to do a 2 week stint of work experience. Me being me, I just didn't fancy what was on offer, so phoned the local paper (South Yorkshire Times) and said can I come and work with you? - I was even cheeky at 15!! They very kindly said yes. I spent two weeks there and even went to see Bruce Springsteen at Roundhay Park with one of the journos using free press tickets - wahey!!
The very lovely editor (proper old school, cigar smoking, totally lovely chap) invited me back for the school holidays). He told me to go off and do my A levels and then get in touch if I still fancied a career in journalism - I had decided meanwhile I didn't want to go down that path - what was I thinking!! so like a total eejit didn't get in touch.
However, the journo that I went to the concert with introduced me to one of his pals and 25 years later we are still friends, so everything does indeed happen for a reason. Blimey are you still awake? the other facts won't be so long, honest.
2. I'm pretty interested in politics and my next career plan was to go to Leeds Uni to do a politics degree, in a nutshell I beggared about at college, didn't get the grades I needed so blew that too - I am such a slacker!!! However, I'm still interested in politics and feel I might be having a dabble in the next few years - Hmmmmm......
3. I have a wisdom tooth that has been coming through for 16 years. My dentist tells me this is a record for him. It's still not arrived properly - urgh!!
4. I've told you this before but I will repeat myself, I prefer beer to wine, spirits etc. Timothy Taylor is the drink of the gods to me, a pint or two of that and a bag of salt and vinegar and I'm happy - classy lady !!
5. I come from a family who enjoy a good laugh and thankfully I married someone with the same irreverent sense of humour I have (I think that's one of the many reasons we got married). Twiglet also seems to have inherited the funny gene, he certainly makes us laugh. I was trying a new dress on at the weekend - I never usually wear dresses. First of all he told me I'd forgotten my trousers. I said do you like the dress? He said yes it's lovely, I like old lady dresses :) oy cheeky!!
6. You've probably noticed this one already but I'm very proud that I come from Yorkshire. I adore this county and unless we moved to a cottage by the sea in South West Cork, I can't see us ever living elsewhere. I love the scenery, we are lucky to live in a pretty rural village (unfortunately it has a VERY busy road through it). We have the Yorkshire Moors, the Dales, pretty towns, cities and best of all for me the fantastic Yorkshire coast. One day we'd love to live by the sea. The people here are pretty magic too!!
Ok, I'd like to pass this to the following lovely bloggers please, join in if you wish. If you'd rather not, that's fine.

Forgive me for not adding links but I'm now off to get ready to go down to our village church. It's Twiglets Harvest Festival. He has made a strawberry hat and will accessorise with his Mr Noisy wellies and school uniform :) We're taking Mr Twigs decent cameras, so I'll hopefully have some nice pics to show you later.
Cheery bye

Wow, my work experience was done on a community newspaper, Heartlands News in Birmingham. Then I went back and did more for Solihull Times. I made it into the Birmingham Evening Mail not long before leaving town and have since been in Barnsley Chronicle. I LOVE working in a news room. I think everyone is just great. Fancy getting put off, but at least you made good friends with someone.
ReplyDeleteThanks Twiggy, I'll post about it as soon as I get chance, Life is hectic atm. Hope the harvest festival goes well, looking forward to the piccies
