Here is the news and a bit of Moonraking !!!

Hi folks.

Well it's all change at Twiggy Towers - hence me not being around much.

Mr Twigs has got a new job - hooray and we're all adjusting to the new routine.

Hopefully the fact that I'm trotting down to school with Twiglet every day might shift the cake weight I've put on over the last year (2012 was very stressful for a variety of reasons and I have stuffed myself !!)

Anyhoo, lets hope this year will be better.

So the snow has finally disappeared and now it's sunny and bright, just lovely.

We can't wait for the weather to improve as we have to move all the stuff off our old allotment and start playing on the new one - I'll take some photos.

Finally, went out for my birthday, we went over to The Lowry at Salford Quays it was great - if you haven't been get over there.  It was amazing to see paintings that have been around all your life, in the flesh so to speak.  There was a Peter Blake exhibition too, so Twiglet enjoyed all the Beatles artwork.

He got really excited when we walked by Media City where the BBC have relocated  as there were the CBBC studios and sound stages where Dr Who is sometimes filmed - wowza!!

I have a couple of crafting things to get stuck into - birthday pressies - and I really must make a start.

Well half term went by in a whizz - we did lots of catching up with friends and rellies, very lovely it was too.

Last Saturday saw us at the Moonraking Festival in Slaithwaite.

If you ever get the opportunity to attend, go along it was top fun.

This years theme was time, as I'm sure you guessed from the photos of all the fantastic lanterns that had been made.

Lots of clocks, white rabbits and much to Twiglet's delight a few Daleks and a Tardis or two !!

I'm just getting over  a particularly grotty virus and hoping the boys don't catch it - urgh !!

Have a good weekend everyone.

love

Happy Birthday to me with pics

Yesterday we went up to Royd Moor sledging.

As ever, I did not keep my dignity :)
Over night we had a ton of snow, look at our teddy bearometer (geddit?) in the garden, one of his legs was covered by snow last night, look at him today!!
He is our annual, snow gauge.
Twiglet decided to ride down his slide on his sledge - barmy !!

Some birthday cake to finish the day on the lovely vintage tea service Mr Twigs bought me for my birthday - isn't it pretty?
Hope you had a great day, however you spent it

Happy Birthday to me !!

I got my snow day off school and I'm now sat in my PJs looking at the snow through the window - wahey !!

More on this story later.

Brrrrr

Hello campers, innit chilly?  did you think I'd follow off the edge of the planet?
I've been working more hours over the last couple of weeks and to be honest I've been a bit cream crackered.

First day off for a while today, so thought I'd catch up a bit.

How's it where you are? it's v.chilly and snowy up here on the tops, very pretty though.

Mr Twigs and I popped out to do our weekly shop today - usually do it on Wednesday but I was working, so we're all stocked up and ready for anything now. (The shops were v.busy and the poor old checkout lady said people were being nuts and buying loads of bread!!).

I've got to show you this lush pork pie my brother in law made us for Christmas, it was delish, he used to have a butchers shop and knows his pies !!

Fingers crossed for a snow day off school tomorrow.

We'd especially like one for Monday as it's my birthday - how jammy would that be :)

Anyhoo I'm not one for New Years resolutions but one I MUST do is get my cranky old back sorted, so before the ice arrived we did a lot of walking.

Hope you like the pics.
We had a walk up to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park on Sunday.
 I love this new bridge.

From one cheeky boy to two cheeky furry boys, Dom and Henry are good buddies now.
I posted some magazines, and a puzzle book and some choccy to my Mum today with strict instructions, to stay indoors and take care of herself !!

I've just had a peek outside, the trees are covered in frost and the snow is swirling down in the street lights - so pretty.

Keep warm and cosy.

We had a lovely time eating far too much and catching up with rellies and we are enjoying catching up on our sleep, we are not due back to school until next Monday!!

Here's a few pics  of Twiglet's Christmas makes as promised and I hope 2013 brings you a peaceful and happy year.

I have a new way of looking at things........and HELP !!

It's because now I'm getting on a bit I have finally had to buy some vari focal specs.  This is great as I no longer need to make my finance reports at school 150% bigger and print them out on A3 paper.  I no longer have to take my glasses off to read books and I can read the small print on the back of Calpol bottles - so important at this time of year.

My new specs are larger than usual to incorporate my complex prescription (jam jar bottoms :) .

In other news, I know I have been a blogging slacker but we have had major `stuff' to deal with, but onwards and upwards, it's not long to Christmas now, so now I can actually see to stitch again, I better get cracking.

We are having a relatively low key Christmas - as usual :) but I fancy making a few bits and bobs, I've even made my Christmas cake which I must photograph at the weekend, so I can show you.

Here's the HELP bit - I have an error message saying I do not have any space on Blogger to upload photos - noooooooooooooo, anyone else had this?  If so, what did you do? I refuse to cough up cash for extra storage but don't really want to delete photos from my blog :( all help will be gratefully received.

Righto, wee Twiglet is off school with his first lurgy of the Winter, so healing vibes please peeps.

I better go and check on him and do a spot of ironing.

Autumn Goodness

Hooray it's half term hols for us.  We went on a lovely Autumnal walk yesterday, I LOVE this time of year, the trees are so pretty and it was so crisp and bright outside.

Due to the pants weather this year we didn't have much joy on the allotment, but look at these goodies.

Twiglet's one and only fab pumpkin that he grew for Halloween.
One of our lovely fellow allotment holders has two old apple trees and these apples are SO tasty, so my job today was peeling this little lot, it took an hour and a half
we filled up my old jam pan and ended up with this lovely stuff - totally lush !!
I'll give some to my Mum and freeze the rest, saving a bit for Christmas Day - magic !!

Here's a little birdy purse I've bought for my pal for her birthday, she has a couple of hens, so hen pressies are called for, isn't it cute?
A bit of cosy evening stitching I've done for the for the young man.
We had a roast for tea today and finished off with big bowls of rhubarb crumble and custard, lovely.
I've got my old BERO book out and will be making the Christmas cake this week, the clocks go back and the nesting begins.

What little comforting Winter rituals do you have?

Happy Days.

Get your thinking caps on

Blimmin heck me And Twiglet walked down to school in torrential rain this morning - he was wrapped up like an explorer:)
Soon as I walked back in the house the flippin sun came out - grrr!!

Anyhoo, I've finally got a day off work and I've done lots of housework and now I'm skiving on here!!

We visited my lovely Mum at the weekend and went up to Whitley Locks, looked at the boats, examined the locks and collected half a carrier bag full of conkers!!! (Our house is full of Twiglet''s collections of conkers, sticks, pebbles, shells etc, etc)

Isn't this cute? I bought it for my Mum as a little Christmas pressie - £1.49 from Home Bargains, get them while they're hot folks.  I'm going to buy her another tonight, she likes these little pots as she's cooking for one and they are v.cute!!

Now here's the thinking caps bit - as you know we are having a crafting taster session on Monday 19th November to hopefully drum up some interest in our new WI.

I need to do a little demo type thing so people can do a make and take.

It has to be simple(it's me we're talking about here), cheap (we are currently self funding) and quick.

Any ideas?  would be great if they were Christmas themed.  I've thought of pincushions so far and that's about it.

I'll pop all ideas in a hat and send a little something to the one drawn out - no idea what though !!

Right better type up my minutes from the Scout Meeting last week now!!

Ta ta for now

PS I will attempt to add info about our craft taster evening on here - do come if you can - they will be cake !

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
