25 years on

Just wanted to mention this link, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7925552.stm
you might like to take a look. Mr Twigs and I both grew up in Yorkshire mining towns and lived in them during the miners strike. Very sad times for ALL concerned.

  1. I grew up in St Helens - a Lancashire mining town and it had a huge impact on the town as a whole - once upon a time there were 3 collieries in St H - now there are none. I have a lot of memories of that time and I hadn't realised how deep[ly it had affected me until I saw Billy Elliott and got quite upset at the attempts to "romanticise" what was a horrible time.

  2. I remember the strikes but obviously not very well being only just over 25 cough cough. Sad times and the loss of so many strong communities.

  3. Even though I grew up partly in Scotland my dad was a miner and I remember how hard it was at times.
They earned every penny they made that's for sure.

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
