Winter walks and inspiration

So before all the lurgy business we went for a lovely walk at the weekend in my favourite conditions, crisp, sunny wintery afternoons. Yes, I know my roots need doing, all taken care of now, I assure you.My boys..................Isn't the mushroom at the top of the page a fantastic colour? We walked along an old disused train track and went to have a look at a disused canal, am I alone in finding trees growing in still water really spooky?? Clumber Park really freaks me out in places. Yes, I'm sure it's just me.
Now here's a bit of Christmas stuff, Twiglet came home from school and told me we must make angels quickly!! his is on the left, fantastic. My favourite bit was when he whipped it's head off blew down it's neck and shouted AN ANGEL TRUMPET !!!!

Here's the inspiration bit, I love blogland, it's great to catch up on what everyone is up to and also a very friendly and inspiring place. One of the most inspiring people for me is Lynsey over at Swirlyarts. Who can take almost anything and turn it into something wonderful, to me that is true creative talent. It is great to buy a book, the latest fabric and make something but to repurpose something in a totally unique way, well that's what Lynsey does and does very well. Thank you for inspiring me and hope you don't mind that I've nicked, I mean erm, borrowed your lovely chicken design as I fancied making a few Christmas chickens for gifts this year. Don't know what these two ladies are chatting about but I made them a little tree to sit next to!! I have a few more cut out and ready to sew. I've made them by hand as it gave me something to do while sitting with poorly Twiglet.
Another idea I stole, I mean borrowed is from Vicky over at Anglesey Allsorts, she has made some fab reindeers and I fancied having a go. The fleece I used is from a little jacket Twiglet used to wear when he was a baby that I loved and couldn't part with. It seems fitting to make him a little friend that he can keep, made from it. Mr Twigs and I had a good laugh as he's a bit bow legged and as my Grandad would have said, he couldn't stop a pig in a ginnel :) Hope Twiglet likes him.I've also been inspired by Solsticedreamer to stop wasting so much blardy time on Facebook, I only joined for a few weeks and thought what a waste of time, I must admit to the odd sneaky game of bejeweled blitz though. Thank you though for reminding me to go and do something REAL !!!!!!
Finally here's a little Christmas ATC hanger I've made for a Crafters Forum swap, I love vintage. How's the weather where you are? up here on top of our hill it is sooooooooooo windy and wet. my little greenhouse took a battering last night and has popped a panel and it's doors have come off, thanks goodness it's plastic rather than glass. It's blowing a gale up here tonight too.
Righto, off to prepare myself to watch Richard Armitage in Spooks, be still my beating heart. Talking of being all aflutter did you see Mr Tennant at the weekend, only 2 more Dr Who episodes with him , there will be a lot of chocolate and wine assistance needed when he regenerates!
Have a great week and try to keep dry and cosy (why does it always rain when it's time for us to walk to school and back??)

  1. It's been blowing a hooley down here today too. We love to go on walks just like yours, and I am always pleased to come across fungi, but haven't ever come across anything bright orange, not edible I shouldn't think. To make the reindeer out of recycled fleece is such a good idea, and perfect for Master Twigs. I missed Dr Who, so will have to try to catch up on i-Player. Won't make the same mistake with Spooks, I am sure to remember to watch that. x

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
