Try something new today..........

To quote Sainsburys. Well I'm still getting to grips with my blardy Danish keyboard, I don't do many smiley faces at the moment as I can't figure out which keys to use!!!!!
So we had a busy, busy Bank Holiday weekend starting with lovely Nana and Grandad Twigs taking us out for a delish Italian meal. As previously mentioned Twiglet met one of his heroes. IVOR THE ENGINE!!!!!!!We visited Embsay station with our friends as it was Twiglets little mates 4th birthday last Sunday. I haven't been up in the Yorkshire Dales since before Twiglet was born and I totally forgot how beautiful it is, absolutely stunning. Despite the VERY cold and windy weather we had a jolly time. What a pair of rascals.I seem to have been dealing with a fair amount of real life crap recently so haven't done that much crafting but I also seem to have lost the crafting urge. So, I thought I'd try some new stuff to relight my fire. What do you reckon. New flower brooches.
A card commission for my mother in law (not my cup of tea, but who am I to argue with customers). A WIP just for the hell of it.A 15 minute pizza base which was a revelation, these pizzas were made by the team Twiggy and were gorgeous.
It's Twiglets 4th birthday on the 19th May and I've promised him bunting, so that is my next project. We're celebrating by visiting Flamingoland again, wahey!!

I've been a very lucky lady recently, my friend Helen gave us a big box of card which we're making great use of already. I was also given a huge bag of tapestry wool by a lovely Freecycler. Another Freecycler offered me a few needlepoint books, a few turned out to be 22!!! they are lovely. However, I don't have room for everything, so feel a giveaway coming on in the next few weeks. Talking of giveaways look at this gorgeous parcel I received from lovely Sal of Sals Snippets fame, today, thank you sooooo much. Finally, I'll leave you with a pic of my little nursery in the porch. I've just been watching Gardeners World whilst typing, I do love it. Continuing in the vein of trying something new, I've now got my name on two waiting lists for an allotment, both of them very long, so I better get Mr Twigs busy building me my raised beds next year!
Have a great week.

PS Do you like my new colour scheme, change is definitely in the air at the moment!

Rainy Mondays and other stuff

Here's a pic of our potatoes, I'm very proud as I've never grown them before and they're coming on nicely.
We seem to have been very busy lately, I've even made stuff!!! but haven't got around to taking photos yet so will post that later.
You will have to bear with me as Mr Twigs has bought me a new keyboard, the English version was £60, the Danish one £20. so I now have to guess the symbols, what fun :)
Anyhoo last Monday was a rainy day, so here is what Twiglet and I got up to. Paint and straw pictures.
Paper lilies, I was very impressed with these.A break for retro lunch, Mr Twigs makes the best bread.Carrot and orange muffins. yum!!We've also been taking photos in the garden for Twiglets nature scrapbook, I'm getting to grips with the macro button on my camera.Had a nice afternoon out with our friends, aren't these flowerbeds gorgeous?A bit of tree climbing.Rock climbing with Daddy. This is a place called the Heronry that I've driven by hundreds of times and never visited, we had a lovely afternoon here last Sunday and will definitely return.Had a fab day yesterday, one that Twiglet had been looking forward to for ages, he finally got to meet one of his heroes, but more of that next time. Have a great week.

What goes around comes around.

Being a child of the 1970s I've got a real soft spot for anything from that fab decade, so here is the charity shop find I mentioned a while ago that had me and my Mum oohing and ahhing. I found some magazines called Womancraft published by Good Housekeeping and they are wonderful. Not only is it interesting in a nostalgic way, it amazes me how much stuff I'd covet now, these blinds for example (excuse rubbish photo). Or how about this for the kitchen?I love these great fashion ideas for 1976, is that a Twiggy bando in the top left hand corner? I think the skirt with the loveheart patch pocket is soooo pretty and can remember wearing those cord skirts with the little frill around the hem. This advert made us both laugh, `so no -one will ever know you made it yourself'. I'd be more likely to wear a badge saying, hey I made this myself!!!! Brilliant patchwork quilts, the green and yellow reminds me of 1970s cheese and onion crisp packets.
I have lots of this stuff to share, so keep watching. I've managed to do a fair bit of crafty stuff this week but haven't got round to taking any photos yet, so I'll leave you with these that are now in my shop and will pop back at the end of the week.
Take care.

Step into the garden.........

That's what we've mostly been doing for the last week or so, so zilch crafting done. Hasn't the weather been gorgeous? We spent a lovely afternoon at the park yesterday where Twiglet finally managed to pedal his bike - hooray!! and we sat and listened to a brass band concert in the sunshine. Unfortunately I forgot to take my camera.
So here are a few photos from our patch instead (see above Cowslips also)
Wee Twiglet playing with his sand and water table this afternoon, he WILL grow into his hat!!
Hooray Mr Twigs has finished putting in our water feature, this has been in storage since we moved 3 and a half years ago, I LOVE it and the new plum slate looks fantastic, well done Mr Twigs!I was also lucky enough to receive some gorgeous postal loveliness in the form of a swap from Emma @ Silverpebble - I promise to get my bando swap out this week Emma, I'm so pants - sorry!!!
Not only pretty buttons, but look at this beautiful bracelet made in my favourite shades, lucky Twiggy!!!Young Master Twiglet also received a very exciting parcel from Julia @ Marmaladekiss a fantabulous monkey bag and matching towel.Look at the contents of the bag, Julias yummy, scrummy choccy soap, can you see his little paw top left. He won't use any other soap dahling, a man of taste, young Master Twiglet. Thank you soooooo much Julia, he loves his (what he calls) monkey soap :)

Isn't blogland lovely and full of the best people?? Can you take any more loveliness? you can, well I fancied a 1970s retro treat for dinner this evening, so look what we had - wahey!!! It's just like the 70s again. I will be watching Ashes to Ashes tonight, now if it had been Life on Mars and I'd been wearing a tartan kilt, red wellies and my Starsky and Hutch t.shirt, it would have been the 70s - happy days!!!!Twiggy x

Easter fun!

Well I was going to include everything I wanted to share with you in one post but I'd get writers cramp and you would fall asleep so we'll have a few shorter posts instead. (Above photie of some of our glorious tulips). What an exhausting but fun weekend we had, here are a few of our makes. The obligatory Easter nests.............Easter cards.Easter eggs.I mentioned previously that Twiglet went to a fab Easter egg hunt birthday party on Good Friday which was really lovely, no soft play areas, no party bags just a rollocking good time for the children and parents, playing old fashioned party games in the garden, followed by a big eggy hunt and Easter eggs and cake all round.
Flamingoland on Saturday with Twiglets lovely big cousin and lovely little cousin. This was the first time Twiglet had ever visited a theme park and he had the BEST time, we all did.
Here he is on his first rollercoaster ride with lovely big cousin. It's that mad woman again. Yes I know I look nuts!We got VERY wet in the Splash Zone.I can't believe Twiglet was brave enough to sit right at the front of this ride, while I had my head between my knees!
Over to Nana and Grandad Twigs for lunch on Sunday, followed by ANOTHER Easter egg hunt and then cleaning Nanas windows with lovely little cousin - how kind :) Also received some postal loveliness over the weekend. Lucky Twiggy. Firstly a lovely pack of backing papers from Copse on the Crafts Beautiful forum, thank you soooo much. Not only, but also, a fabtastic bundle of goodies from Max over at Maxs Craft Creations, Max has been very generous during her Easter Giveaway and I was lucky enough to win a rollover prize!!! Check out the link on my previous post and join in the fun!!! Some fantastic funky foam and a book, we've already made one of the projects I'll blog it next time. And look at this little lot, heavens to Betsy, crafting heaven!!! Flippin heck this has turned out to be a fairly long post anyway! Righto in the next instalment, more postal loveliness from lovely Julia@ Marmaladekiss, more Etsy makes, an award and some VERY exciting charity shop finds.
I will leave you with this, my SIL knows I am a big Miffy fan and indulges me no end, for Easter she bought me these lovelies, testing my love of chocolate over my love of Miffy. Sadly choccy won and I've scoffed half the box already, who would have thought, she'd be such a tasty bun!

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
