Is it me ?

Please tell me am I the only one that finds drawing faces on butternut squash, really, really funny??
I am. Right, I'll get my coat. (I had to find some way of making putting the shopping away this morning more interesting). I think I might go and write my name on the bananas now.

Fun in the September Sun

Ahhh I LOVE September, the seasons changing, crisp bright mornings, farmers bringing in their crops. We have a theory that every year the week after all the children go back to school the weather is stunning. Mr Twigs parents are both retired teachers and can confirm this, much to their disgust:) We often used to go on holiday during this time before Twiglet started school and had some cracking weather.
So considering the little chap is now at school, we did our best. I visited the Sculpture Park with my pal on Thursday and we needn't have worried about having nothing to talk about without the children to distract us. We twittered on for 3 hours and managed to fit in a really long walk and coffee, cake and sunshine. Tiptop.
This weekend, we had a terrific time in the old dinghy at Filey, the weather was GORGEOUS, (if only my photos did it justice). I even sloped off alone and had a swim in the sea, boy did I ache the next day - what an old codger!Sunday was spent round at Nana and Grandad Twigs for a barbecue, so we really did squeeze all we could from the glorious September sunshine. Hope you had a super time too.
I haven't done much crafting this week as I'm doing a bit of furniture and stash shifting at the moment, so all will be revealed at a later date. I also have another little project lined up next week, but as they say on News at Ten and we'll have more on that story later.............

Busy,busy

Well the news from Twiggy Towers is Twiglet still loves school and has a girlfriend!!! already!!! fast cat. He's come home with 3 I'm a star awards and a certificate already, what a good boy.
I'm still missing my little buddy but inbetween the domestic tedium I'm managing to do a bit of this and a bit of that. I've also got a few projects in the pipeline but more about that at a later date. So this weekend we popped over to lovely Holmfirth for a bit of shopping and climbing in the playground. On Sunday we visited Kirkstall Abbey, we have driven by soooo many times and never been, if you can get there do, it's fab. Beautiful abbey and park, a little train and ice cream!!
So what else have we been up to?
Scoffing the last of our veggies from the garden.A bit of making and doing.
Starting to do a bit for my various shops. A few Christmassy Country Living tags.
I also made a few birdy tags and popped them in my MISI shop.
Bit of stitching.
I'm quite proud of this Stanley t.shirt I made for Twiglet (adapted from the Make book by Cath Kidston). A sideways shot- don't ask !!!
Some lovely stuff I bought from Lynsey over at Swirlyarts, smashing as always. Lovely Thomas tags for Twiglet (sorry about sideways picture again!) and fairytale envelopes, too lovely to use really :)Finally, I had a jaunt over to my fave big old church hall rummage charity shop and look what I got for a fiver (as well as some books for Twiglet not pictured). These fantastic Ladybird books. And 3 pretty china cups for a project I have in mind. I'll leave you with a piccy of a gorgeous card I received from my good friend Helen to help keep my spirits up when wee Twiglet started school. What a lovely lady.Talking off lovely ladies the hanky has come in useful this last week Vicky (Anglesey Allsorts) but I think I'm over the worst of it now :)
My buddy and I are going out tomorrow morning for a little jaunt without any children or husbands for the first time EVER!!! ooo excitement, what will we find to talk about without having to break off to stop naughty boys misbehaving! I'm sure they'll be cake involved somewhere.
Have a lovely week.

So how did Twiglets first day go ?????

Well Twiglet had a very nice first day. When we went to collect him, he was hugging his best mate from next door and they held hands all way home :) He told me he did LOADS of playing, played with his new friends, I can't remember their names Mummy!! his teacher is pretty and the lego is ace! So there you go. Thankfully Mr Twigs works from home on Wednesdays so it wasn't too quiet but today there is tumbleweed blowing through the house - hey ho!! The problem I have now is the list of things I've said I must get done in the house for the last 4 years, well, I'll have to blardy do them now - argh!!

Farewell my lovely

Well do you know what, we dropped Twiglet off this morning, I gulped a bit when I saw him in his a bit too big uniform, but he was totally fine and so was I, so there you go!!! It was funny all the Year 1 children were playing, the Reception children, looked a bit gobsmacked. When Twiglets little mate from next door saw him, he shouted his name and got very giddy, so we left there feeling good. as to the rest of the day, a bit of housework, a bit of shopping and some crafting for Twiggy!!
Thanks for your good wishes

Wish him luck as we wave him goodbye!!!

Here's a photo of Twiglet in his smart new school uniform. Well how he appeared to me :)
He starts school full time tomorrow - arghhhhhh. However, before you all start sobbing onto your keyboard with sympathy. I have well and truly been put in my place by my 4 year old. We were planning on having one last Twiglet and Mummy Day today. However, he is now next door playing with his mate and they are currently debating the best way to sing the ABC out in the garden. He ran off shouting you'll be ok Mummy watch CBeebies - the cheek of him!
I'm actually watching Dawn Bibby on Create and Craft and having a nice cup of Earl Grey. Start as you mean to go on I say !!! He's sooooooooo cheeky.

Rainy day fun

Well it's bucketed down here today. Can't complain though as we had a terrific time in our dinghy in the sea on Sunday, spent two and a half hours cavorting about in the water at Filey - in our wetsuits I hasten to add, it wasn't that warm!! Anyhoo we had a Twiglet and Mummy day today so first of all we used the recipe for playdoh from Smilernpbs blog, thank you Nicola. Mine was a rich dark red with purple glitter, Twiglets pale blue with white glitter :) Do you like our teddy bear army? (see top of page)
We then made the obligatory buns. And finally, how about this for charity shop gold. we spent the day at my Mums on Monday and had a look in the local Salvation Army shop. Talk about striking the jackpot a 1970 Camberwick Green lotto game, completely intact for 50p!!!!! flippin heck it's only got a tiny tear in the box and looks in better nick than me considering I was produced in the same year!!!Right that's me for now, don't forget to watch Shooting Stars tonight UK residents, must practice my Vic Reeves trouser rubbing style.

Second time around is better.............

Well sometimes. For dinner this evening we had what Twiglet calls ROSSO, you might know it better as risotto - After cooking for us for 17 years, I'm still rubbish at portion control so popped a box of rosso in the freezer last time I made it. We all agreed it tasted much better second time round. I make a mean bread and butter pudding and IF there is any left over, it always tastes nicer for breakfast the next day :)
This theme continues with a pic of half of one of the 6 bags of Country Living, Homes & Antiques, Period Home etc etc I received from a lovely Freecycler the other day.
Here are the 25 cross stitch mags I collected today, along with a ton of cross stitch kits and goodies!!! I am VERY excited about this bundle particularly as the include 2 peacock cross stitch designs as well as The Snowman and Thomas the Tank Engine, all things I've been searching for for ages, serendipity indeed. The magazines will keep me occupied when Twiglet starts school inbetween the HUGE list of things I have to do around the house (we moved here in 2005 and still have boxes that need unpacking!!!) and sobbing into my pillow obviously.
Here's some fab artwork made by Twiglet this morning with a bit of help from me. By the way the red thing does look like a bird in real life, for those of you with naughty minds :)
I received a call for Dr Twigs the other day as these old ladies Nellie (on the left) and Twinky (on the right) have obviously been taking part in illegal wrestling matches while we were on holiday. The good news is, Twinky has had the tear in her neck stitched up and Nellie has been reunited with her tail. I've had Nellie since I was a baby and her ears and tail have been sewn back on SO many times, she has loads of bald patches - it's the drool you know, yes even today :)Yet another Freecycle goody we received ages ago was a dinghy for Twiglet which we're planning on taking to the seaside tomorrow now we have bought some oars to go with it, which will be very jolly.
Hope you like the lily at the top of the screen it's one from our garden.
We went out to the local open farm with our friends on Thursday - we haven't seen them for 2 months!!! - you'll have to take my word that we had a fab time as I forgot my camera - doh!!
Another 2nd time round favourite is this book that I bought from a YMCA charity shop.
I'm really enjoying it, a beautiful book indeed.
Righto, I have a hankering for pancakes and fresh orange juice and dear Mr Twigs has gone to make some, what a top hubby.
Now you tell me what you think is better second time around.

The travellers return.............

Well we have had a simply lovely time at Pam and Pauls gorgeous little cottage, so while I get on with my holiday washing here are some photos of White o Morn that I took for your enjoyment (see I think of you all the time). Pam very kindly gave me permission to blog my photies!
I will be back later with further details of our incredibly packed tales of adventures and lots of jolly photos.

Feel the fear..... and do it anyway!!!

That's exactly what I did on Saturday when we went here.
http://www.heightsofabraham.com/ I have a great fear of heights which I ignored as I really don't want to pass my phobias on to Twiglet. I felt very brave until we stopped half way up to let people get off at either end. Oh my, how that cable car rocked and Mr Twigs shouted ooo look at those tiny people down there. Flippin heck, anyhoo managed to get to the top and had a lovely time, the weather was gorgeous, the balcony outside the cafe had the stunning view above - no I didn't sit near the edge!!!! Twiglet did lots of playing and went up this tower with Daddy. Can you see them at the top :) We even came back down in the cable car. However, as all the underground cavern tours were 30 minutes long - we felt our boy would get VERY bored - we gave them a miss so I didn't have to face up to my other phobia, phew!!! What a wussy Twiggy.

In other news the previous weekend we were sitting in a soggy Yorkshire field listening to a fantastic steel band, drinking real ale and looking at traction engines!!!

Although the 3 of us are still coughing away I think we're getting better - about time!!!
We've spent a lot of time in the garden recently - weather permitting - and our little veg patch is looking good. Clever Mr Twigs made this frame for the beans.
One of the raised beds, the rhubarb and radishes were very tasty.A gorgeous delphinium grown from seed by Grandma Twiggy..And a lovely hollyhock.I also got all domesticated and made another batch of chilli jam - yummy!! My slothlike state appears to be at an end for now and I made these ATCs for this months Papercrafters swap.Remember the surprise I was making for my friend Helen and her husband Ralph, well here it finally is, it took 5 months to do, but they like it and that's all that matters. Hope you can see it, I had to nick a photo from Helens photobucket, as I forgot to take a photo of it myself, doh!!!
I must be a glutton for punishment as I've offered to do another one for my niece and her future hubby. However she isn't getting hitched until September 2010, so plenty of time to get stuck into it. I'll leave you with a photo that I took of Twiglet and my Mum today, awww bless!!! I have a few bits and bobs on the go so will have to show you next time.
Off to watch Supersizers soon, it does make me larf.
Have a great week
love

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
