When the going gets tough.

The tough get crafting. Well blimey, I had to visit the doctors last Thursday to get my ankle checked out it seems I have torn ligaments in my ankle and it will take 6 - 8 weeks to heal. Brilliant I thought, we're going on holiday in 3 weeks and to a friends wedding. I mooched about a bit and then thought, oh b******s to this. I like to think I'm a fairly positive sort so, I got my crafting stuff out and got stuck in.
Now I have been lucky (see every cloud has a silver lining) as Mr Twigs had booked a lot of annual leave to use up his remaining hols, so if I was going to be out of action now is the time, he's been great. He and Twiglet have done lots of BOY STUFF together (which Twiglet has loved), and I've been left to my own devices. They're out at the moment buying timber to finish off the raised beds they've started - hooray didn't think I'd be seeing those until next year. Of course my Mum has been fabulous too as she always is, and is coming over tonight for a few days.
Anyhoo back to the crafting.
First of all, take a look at this wonderful parcel of fabric that I received from lovely Kitty, isn't it great?Must get my thinking cap on, have a few ideas buzzing around at the moment. thank you so much lovely lady.
Here are some very nice fabric pieces I bought during my last visit to Scrapstore.
How about this lovely Snoopy binding tape, I found a whole roll of it!!!
A couple of cards made for lovely friends birthdays.3 brooches and a pin cushion, the denim items are 100% recycled. (Excuse fuzzy photo). Here's my very favourite thing, Twiglet wanted a case for his Spiderman sunglasses and look who arrived. He was so easy to make and I love the retro look of him.Being housebound I have enjoyed the telly this week. did you see the Apprentice last night? I thought it was an excellent and very close final, but I did like Kate, ho hum.
Last in the series of Ashes to Ashes tonight, what will I do without my Gene Hunt fix? I better go and make something.
And finally, Mr Twigs and Twiglet were rooting around in the attic the other day, so I said find me something interesting. Mr Twigs came downstairs with this. Getting creative during tough times has obviously always been with me, I painted this in 2002 when my darling Dad was very ill in hospital. I forgot all about this painting and now have an urge to dig out my trunk of paints that have remained in the garage since we moved here 4 years ago. Mr Twigs is going to frame it and we'll hang it somewhere in the house. Twiglet says it's beautiful, it reminds me that it's good to take your mind elsewhere during tough times.
Have a great week.

The cavalry has arrived...........

In the form of my lovely Mum. Poor old Mr Twigs returned to work today for a rest and my lovely Mum has come over to take care of us until he is off work again on Friday. Aren't Mums brilliant ?? (my husband is pretty terrif too).
Not much to report as haven't been anywhere due to sprained ankle, it's a fetching shade of purple, blue and yellow with co-ordinating red sunburn streaks on my legs, gorgeous. I look like a fruit pastille ice lolly!!! We set up the paddling pool and tent in the garden , Camp Twiggy!!! and settled in for the weekend. Have spent a lot of time sat in the garden reading and lusting over Gene Hunt - ooo I'll miss Ashes to Ashes when this series ends - please tell me it's not just me???
I received a fabulous parcel of fabric from Kitty recently, I'll take some proper photos and blog it soon.
Hope you like the photos I took in the garden this weekend.
Thanks for all your lovely get well wishes and kind comments about my Dad.

Let's hear it for my Dad

Who died 7 years ago today which make me very sad - particularly as he never got to meet Twiglet. However my memories make me glad, so here are two of my favourite photos of us. I will ALWAYS be my Daddys girl and will always think of him when I hear someone sing When You Wish Upon a Star (his favourite song) and of course Bring Me Sunshine, which he always did.
Thanks for my curly hair and sense of humour Dad.
Lots of love

Ouch !!!!

Falling apart continued, well we had a lovely morning today, my friend and her boys came round so we played in the garden. After they'd gone I fell in the garden and heard a terrible cracking noise - urgh!!!
Phoned Mr Twigs who drove a long way home, to take me to A & E, 2 hours and an Xray later, I have a badly sprained ankle and not a broken one thankfully (flippin hurts though, it's huge and bloaty). What am I like ???? Twiglet was a total star at the hospital, so I think Daddy may take him for a little treat tomorrow. Mr Twigs has Friday and Monday booked off work already, so at least he is here for parental duties!!! Send healing vibes folks, the weather is too nice to be out of action for too long.

Falling apart but still here.

Above is a picture of some of our lavender, I love this and think it looks like bees in Mardi Gras hats - yes, I am barmy!
Hope you've had the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine this weekend. We seem to have been very busy recently, what with Twiglets birthday, Mr Twigs having last week off work and the Bank Holiday weekend. Normal service resumed yesterday, Mr Twigs back to work for a very short 3 day week, Twiglet has cold and I've done my knee in - honestly, I'm a right old gimmer. We had a little jaunt up to Castle Hill this weekend.
The weather this weekend was fantastico, for once we chose to stay at home and potter and Twiglet had his paddling pool out, two days on the trot. I sat in the garden, sewing, whilst having a paddle in the pool, just lovely.
Thank you VERY much for all of the lovely birthday messages you left for Twiglet, I read them all to him. I can't believe my baby is 4, but soon will, as his place for full time school has been confirmed for September. He thinks it's cool, I don't, so get ready with the tissues, folks. To make matters worse, Mr Twigs can't attend the parents day, so I'm going on my own, any questions?? yes WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???? :)
We took loads of fantastic photos on his birthday at Flamingoland but due to lack of space on my laptop, Mr Twigs has the photos on his, so I'll have to do a lovely birthday post at a later date. But here's a pic of his cake.We all know that blogland is populated with lovely people and I've been very fortuntate to meet some of the best, both virtually and in real life and recently we received lovely gifts from two very lovely ladies.
2 brilliant bags from Josie @ Sykes Silly Site, a fab space bag for Twiglet and a lovely heart one for me, thank you so much Josie.
Twiglet was a VERY lucky boy on his birthday and the surprises went on for a few days. Including this totally fab parcel from Vicky @ Anglesey Allsorts, containing loads of beads and bits and bobs, thank you so much. There was a parcel for me too!As it's half term and my boy is poorly we've done a lot of stuff at home, look what we had at the weekend. Of course we had a big bowl of choccy to dip them in. Here are some lush cranberry hobnobs I made - only problem is I bit into one and half my back tooth fell out - honestly they weren't that hard, anyhoo think I've swallowed my bit of tooth - urgh!! Dental appointment for me on Tuesday then!I have quite a few WIPs on the go, but here are a few of my recent makes, firstly Twiglets birthday card, which he loved. And a few tags that are going to find their way into one of my shops.Twiglet has been creative too, this is his crocodile, isn't it good.I'll leave you with a photo of one of my herb pots, they really are coming on nicely thanks to all the rain and sun.

Have a great weekend and catch you later.

Arghhhh!!!!

Above, one of the views from our garden. A Summer view of the Sculpture Park.I can't look at the majority of your lovely blogs today as I keep getting an error message. My laptop is also so full of pics I can't put any more on, so until Mr Twigs sorts it out you'll have to believe me when I tell you Twiglet had a fab birthday. Vicky @ Anglesey Allsorts sent Twiglet and I a fabulous parcel and Josie at Sykes Silly site sent us some gorgeous bags and I'll post the pics later :)
Meanwhile here are a few random photos that are already on my laptop. Catch you later and have a lovely Bank holiday weekend all you UK folks. All you non UK folks have a fab weekend too.Lovely, lovely Anglesey, looking forward to returning very soon, be prepared Vicky & Mr P :)Love the above photo of the beach at Talacre can you just make out the windfarm in the background. And finally, I swear every time I visit Ireland I leave a piece of my heart there. I always thought I'd remain a Yorkshire lass forever, but South West Cork is one of the few places I'd be more than happy to settle down. Do you have any places like that make you feel that way, feel free to leave me a comment.

Nice weather for ducks.

Blimey, is it ever going to stop raining?
Hmmm so what have we been up to, well Mr Twigs is using up his annual leave before the end of June so we've spent a lot of time together which is nice. After reading about Scrapstores on Swirlyarts and Daisie Days blogs thought we'd have a look at our local one. http://www.scrapstuff.co.uk/index.html Was fantastic well worth a visit. I got a lot of goodies in my £5 basket and have even used some already!!
I appear to have refound my crafting mojo which I'm pleased about. This months ATCs for my Papercrafters swaps. Some 100% recycled tags which will be appearing in my Folksy or Etsy shops very soon. I've also finished the gift I've made for Helen and Ralphs wedding. It's taken nearly 5 months, but I can't show you until after the happy day incase Helen is peeping :)
Some jolly birthday bunting for my boys 4th(!!) birthday on Tuesday. His remit was tractors, trains and a picture of Bob the Builder, so not very Laura Ashley but he is very pleased which is what matters most.
I'm working tomorrow and a bit nervous as I'm going to have to speak in front of 100 students, Mr Twigs has the rest of the week off so we can have some family fun. We're taking Twiglet to Flamingoland for his birthday on Tuesday, so keep your fingers crossed for dry weather (not that it matters as we got soaked on the rides last time:)
Have a good week.

PS A big thank you to Josie from Sykes Silly Site for the lovely bags she sent to Twiglet and I, I'll show you some pics next time, they are fab.

Try something new today..........

To quote Sainsburys. Well I'm still getting to grips with my blardy Danish keyboard, I don't do many smiley faces at the moment as I can't figure out which keys to use!!!!!
So we had a busy, busy Bank Holiday weekend starting with lovely Nana and Grandad Twigs taking us out for a delish Italian meal. As previously mentioned Twiglet met one of his heroes. IVOR THE ENGINE!!!!!!!We visited Embsay station with our friends as it was Twiglets little mates 4th birthday last Sunday. I haven't been up in the Yorkshire Dales since before Twiglet was born and I totally forgot how beautiful it is, absolutely stunning. Despite the VERY cold and windy weather we had a jolly time. What a pair of rascals.I seem to have been dealing with a fair amount of real life crap recently so haven't done that much crafting but I also seem to have lost the crafting urge. So, I thought I'd try some new stuff to relight my fire. What do you reckon. New flower brooches.
A card commission for my mother in law (not my cup of tea, but who am I to argue with customers). A WIP just for the hell of it.A 15 minute pizza base which was a revelation, these pizzas were made by the team Twiggy and were gorgeous.
It's Twiglets 4th birthday on the 19th May and I've promised him bunting, so that is my next project. We're celebrating by visiting Flamingoland again, wahey!!

I've been a very lucky lady recently, my friend Helen gave us a big box of card which we're making great use of already. I was also given a huge bag of tapestry wool by a lovely Freecycler. Another Freecycler offered me a few needlepoint books, a few turned out to be 22!!! they are lovely. However, I don't have room for everything, so feel a giveaway coming on in the next few weeks. Talking of giveaways look at this gorgeous parcel I received from lovely Sal of Sals Snippets fame, today, thank you sooooo much. Finally, I'll leave you with a pic of my little nursery in the porch. I've just been watching Gardeners World whilst typing, I do love it. Continuing in the vein of trying something new, I've now got my name on two waiting lists for an allotment, both of them very long, so I better get Mr Twigs busy building me my raised beds next year!
Have a great week.

PS Do you like my new colour scheme, change is definitely in the air at the moment!

Rainy Mondays and other stuff

Here's a pic of our potatoes, I'm very proud as I've never grown them before and they're coming on nicely.
We seem to have been very busy lately, I've even made stuff!!! but haven't got around to taking photos yet so will post that later.
You will have to bear with me as Mr Twigs has bought me a new keyboard, the English version was £60, the Danish one £20. so I now have to guess the symbols, what fun :)
Anyhoo last Monday was a rainy day, so here is what Twiglet and I got up to. Paint and straw pictures.
Paper lilies, I was very impressed with these.A break for retro lunch, Mr Twigs makes the best bread.Carrot and orange muffins. yum!!We've also been taking photos in the garden for Twiglets nature scrapbook, I'm getting to grips with the macro button on my camera.Had a nice afternoon out with our friends, aren't these flowerbeds gorgeous?A bit of tree climbing.Rock climbing with Daddy. This is a place called the Heronry that I've driven by hundreds of times and never visited, we had a lovely afternoon here last Sunday and will definitely return.Had a fab day yesterday, one that Twiglet had been looking forward to for ages, he finally got to meet one of his heroes, but more of that next time. Have a great week.

Well I"ve finally taken the plunge...................

After drooling over many blogs for months now I've decided to finally take the plunge, so here is my new dawn.
Hence the beautiful sunrise above as photographed by Mr Twiggy through our bedroom window. (I'm sure I'll be including a lot of his pics, hope he doesn't expect commision).

I love crafting and have ever since I was a little girl and spent hours playing with my mums button tin (which I've inherited) and amused my self by making dresses for my dollies - even though I'd cut their hair and given them green felt tip highlights. Punk Tiny Tears - I should have marketed this idea !!

Hope you enjoy my work as much as I've enjoyed others who are a daily inspiration to me.

I hope to share favourite blogs, books and anything and everything with you, so enough off my blithering on and watch this space...............................................
